Californian Gully Kindergarten unveiled a 2.4-metre-wide welcome mural, a manifestation of many months of collaboration with local Indigenous families, children and staff, led by Kerri Douglas – Dja Dja Wurrung and Bangerang artist.

Our older children play a key role in supporting younger ones during morning transitions from before school care to the classroom. When challenging behaviours arise, we actively involve the children in problem-solving, tapping into their incredible insights and creative solutions.

Managing a service can be challenging. To feel more supported, connect with peers through networking, build capacity in your team to encourage educators to take up leadership roles and make connections with someone with more experienced, through a peak body or membership organisation.

Working together with families is a key part of our approved learning frameworks and practices as educators. It’s important to connect with families to not only celebrate children’s achievements but also to identify areas where additional support may be needed.

The Federal Department of Education has announced further support to assist approved providers of early childhood education and care (ECEC) services to understand, apply for and meet the conditions of the worker retention payment grants.

We need to balance each child's needs when it comes to rest time. We can provide children who don’t want to sleep or rest with opportunities for play, while ensuring children who do want to rest can do so without being disrupted.
